Brandon Collins

Dear Friends,

It's a real pleasure for me to announce to you that as of July 1, 2022, Brandon Collins will move into the position of Assistant Pastor here at Southport United Methodist Church. The Leadership Team made this official recently. You'll remember that in December, Pastor Doug Shinkle announced that he is going to retire on June 30.

So Brandon will be moving into that position. Many of you know Brandon, maybe even know him really well. He's been very involved in the church as a church member and as a staff member, for the last few years as our Financial Officer.

Among many other things, Brandon has been instrumental in the growth of our Harvest Table, where wonderful produce from our community garden, and the gardens of many church members, is available to people in the church and in the community.

Brandon is our liaison to the Burmese Church that meets for worship every Sunday afternoon and has been getting more and more involved in our youth and children's ministry and other things.

You see Brandon's artwork everywhere around the church. He helps with videos and graphics and design, with our computers and technology.

These are just a few of the things he's been involved in. I've asked Brandon to preach and teach a number of times. He's a natural, I think.

Brandon is a multi-talented and multi-faceted person who's been very instrumental in the inner workings and success of the church in recent years. A lot of those things have a pastoral side to them. And now, Brandon is going to be taking on a more official pastoral role as our Assistant Pastor.

Brandon is the husband to Ashley, and they have two girls, Sumner (age 11) and Lennox, or Leni (age 6).

So as you see Brandon around the church, welcome him, congratulate him. In the days ahead, we're all going to want to encourage him into this role.

Grace and Hope to you,

Pastor Duane
