Dear Southport U.M.C.,
It was the kind of cold that made you question all of your life choices. You know the feeling—you step outside, and the wind hits you so hard that you immediately rethink how important that errand really is. Do I need groceries, or can I survive on peanut butter and saltines? Do I have to take the trashout, or can I just declare it an indoor pet until spring?
Last Sunday, the weather kept many of us home, but thanks to technology, we were still able to worship together. Some of you watched Sunday morning, some caught up later, and some may have just thought really spiritual thoughts while wrapped in a blanket burrito. No matter how you connected, the good news is that you could.
Technology can be a distraction, but it’s also a blessing. The same God who told Joshua,“I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5) is still showing up—whether through a handwritten Bible, a printed page, or a glowing screen. Faith isn’t about how we receive the message, but whether we let it take rootin our lives.
So as we wrap up our Unplugged series this week, I invite you to join us for worship—whether in person or online, on Thursday or Sunday. However we connect through worship, what matters most is that we make space to hear God’s voice.Because in every season, in every place, and through every means, God is already speaking—guiding, strengthening, and reminding us that we are neveralone.
Stay warm, stay safe, and lets us stay connected to God and one another.
Blessings,
Rev.William G. Nickrand
