This week in worship we gather to try to wrap our heads around the Transfiguration, we’ll
reflect on that awe-inspiring moment when Jesus’ brilliant glory was revealed on the
mountaintop and the disciples heard God’s voice urging them, “Listen to him.” Pastor William’s
message will delve into this powerful story, exploring how we can quiet our hearts, recognize
God’s guidance, and be shaped by Jesus’ words in every part of our lives.
We will also have something for you to take home and check out after the
message, or you could click on this link and check it out right now. We have put together a
pamphlet of sorts that shows us how people from other cultures and even other times have
“seen” the Transfiguration and tried to record it in the form of artwork. So, take a few moments
to read through this pamphlet, study the pictures, or maybe even look up some of the artists on
your own. Make sure you take time to consider what the Transfiguration must look like through
different lenses.
OK, enough about this week, next week is really when we have a lot of stuff going
on. Don’t forget to come to the free pancake meal for Shrove Tuesday. This feast of pancakes,
sausage, bacon, and eggs (OK, not eggs, we don’t have it like that) is sure to be delicious and it
is an opportunity for you to extend an invitation to friends, family, neighbors, or maybe even co-
workers. So, hope to see you there on March 4 th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Of course, we hope
to see you back the next day for our Ash Wednesday service which starts at 7:00pm on the 5 th .
