Joining at the Lord's Table:
Communion at Southport UMC
At Southport UMC, we regularly gather around the Lord's Table on the first Sunday of each month. Holy Communion, aslo known as the Lord's Supper or Eucharist, is a sacred act that reminds us of Christ's sacrificial love and grace. As United Methodists, we believe that Communion is a means of grace--a holy moment where we encouter Christ's presence and receive spiritual nourishment.
What is Communion?
In the United Methodist Church, Communion is an open tabe, meaning all who seek Christ are welcome. It symbolizes our unity with Christ, the forgiveness of our sins, and our commitment to live as Christ's disciples. The bread and cup represent the body and blood of Christ, offered freely for our redemption.
Receiving Communion
You can participate in Holy Communion during our online worship service, where we gather as a community of faith, even from a distance. Simply prepare your elements--a piece of bread or cracker and juice or water--and join us as we partake together.
If you are unable to attend in person or online and are in the Indianapolis area, our pastors or lay leaders are also willing to bring Communion to you. Please contact us to arrange a time for us to serve you where you are.
Join Us at the Table
Whether you gather with us in person, online, or from the comfort of your home, know that Christ's table is open to you. As you prepare your heart and elements, may this sacred meal be a reminder of God's love, grace, and unending invitation to draw closer. Come, taste, and see that the Lord is good.
