Prayer
"But he would withdraw to deserted places and pray." Luke 5:16
Even Jesus needed prayer and a break from the daily grind to recharge, refresh and renew his spirit away from others and with his Heavenly Father. We believe in the power of prayer. It gets us through tough days, allows us to share joys, and gives us a way to give thanks and praise.
Asking others to pray for and with us strengthens our faith and uplifts us when words fail us. You may ask for prayer from pastors, staff or the whole church (please indicate which) by using the prayer request form below or call the church office, 317.784.9508.
Baptisms
Baptism is a meaningful and memorable occasion, a sacrament of our faith. Perhaps you have a question about baptisms? See some FAQs below. For more information, please contact the church office or 317.784.9508.
United Methodists believe baptism is a symbol of God’s grace at work in our lives before we are aware of it. Infant baptism is a striking example of this, but people of all ages can be baptized. If you have recently decided to follow Jesus, baptism is a great next step in your faith journey. Baptism is simply an outward sign of an internal decision to follow Jesus. It is a significant moment in our lives that serves as a reminder that the old is gone, and that God will finish His work in our lives.
We baptize by sprinkling Holy Water. The United Methodist Church recognizes baptisms from other faiths and churches, so does not re-baptize people.
Baptisms can take place during most worship services throughout the year.
To schedule a baptism, please contact the church office or 317.784.9508.
Funerals
"The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul." -Psalm 23:1-3a (NRSV)
It is a privilege to walk alongside you before, during, and after the loss of a loved one. Our pastors are available to pray with you when the death of a loved one is imminent. When a death has occurred, our pastors are available to be with you and to provide the service for your loved one. Services can take place at the church, at a funeral home, or at a graveside, depending on family preference.
