Dear Friends,
Once again this week we are working our way through the books of the Bible, with a verse from each book, being guided by the verses that come from a drawing with the title, “God’s Fingerprint.” Each week it’s been interesting for me, and I hope it has been for you, to see what theme will be highlighted from each book. Sometimes the theme is pretty obvious, one you might have chosen yourself, and maybe the verse is one of your favorites. Other times it’s not what you would have thought of at all, not what you would have chosen if you had been asked to pick the main theme of the book. And yet, I have found that even these somewhat surprising verses bring something new and good to mind, and it is always challenging and useful. Today, we have verses from the major, or longer, prophets.
“The punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5
“Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green.” Jeremiah 17:7-8
“His compassions never fail; they are new every morning.” Lamentations 3:22-23
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees.” Ezekiel 36:26-27
“Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, those who lead many to righteousness.” Daniel 12:2-3
Grace and Hope to you as you go through this week.
